I started at St Augustine’s, when my daughter entered Year 3 in 1992, as a parent helper. This carried on for about 2 years when I was offered a post of LSA (1:1 Learning Support Assistant) in the Spring of 1995, for 6 hours per week, with a girl in Year 6. Gradually my hours increased and my role varied from LSA to HLTA (Higher Level Teaching Assistant Level 4) in 2008. As a new role in school this has been challenging as most of my time is spent covering a range of teachers and classes across the whole school. I have recently moved to the lower end of school and enjoy teaching small groups for Literacy, Numeracy, Spelling and Reading. Since 2006 I have achieved an NVQ L3 and in September of 2007 I embarked on a FDA in Educational Studies at the University of Leicester. This was a long, hard 3 year slog! I thoroughly enjoy going on all or any residential trips with the children. These have been many and varied. I’m hoping to continue this tradition for several more years. I’m also an active member of our Eco Green Army. Finally, I run the First Aid department.
