Green Warriors and Green Army

At St Augustine’s, we work hard to promote looking after the environment. We have class-elected children who make up the Green Warriors, a group that sits on the Eco Committee and from which two children from each class attend Green Warrior meetings, held with Mrs Grange and Mrs Massey on a fortnightly basis. Since beginning Green Warriors, we have created our own shield, our own mascot and even our own rap! We are proud to say that the children of St Augustine’s are excellent at reciting the rap – they say it with enthusiasm and passion!

The main role of the Green Warriors group is to run Eco competitions to ensure that all children are thinking about the Eco topic for each term. We have had many Eco topics this year including Paddock Wildlife, Saving Paper, Saving Energy and Saving Water and we are currently encouraging everyone to cycle/scoot/walk to school, working alongside the St Augustine’s Bike It Crew).

The Green Warriors couldn’t do all of this hard work without the Green Army, a group that meets every Monday after school to make posters/displays, carry out litter picks, plant bulbs and seeds, paint benches and learn about how we can look after our own environment.

The children of St Augustine’s are very proud of their Eco work and enjoy working together to look after our planet.
